Google Doodle Today: Celebrates The conclusion Of The Paris Olympics 2024

India wrapped up its campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a total of six medals—one silver and five bronze—falling just short of the seven medals won at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Google Doodle Today: Celebrates The conclusion Of The Paris Olympics 2024

Google marked the successful conclusion of the 2024 Summer Games on Sunday, August 11, with a special animated Google Doodle. The Doodle, designed to celebrate the spirit of the Olympics, featured Olympic-themed birds standing on a winners’ podium, holding flower bouquets. Behind them, other birds and their children were seen cheering and supporting their favorite bird athletes. This charming depiction of the Games captures the essence of victory and unity that the Olympics represent.

Throughout the Paris Olympics 2024, Google has been releasing daily Doodles to honor the event, each one reflecting a different aspect of the Games. The theme of today’s Doodle was “Summer Games,” and Google accompanied it with the caption, “This animated Doodle celebrates the conclusion of the 2024 Summer Games.”

India’s Performance at Paris Olympics 2024

India wrapped up its campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a total of six medals—one silver and five bronze—falling just short of the seven medals won at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Among the medalists, Manu Bhaker stood out by securing two bronze medals: one in the 10m Air Pistol (women) event and another in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. Swapnil Kusale added another bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions, and the Indian men’s hockey team brought home a bronze after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Spain. Neeraj Chopra continued his stellar performances by winning a silver in the men’s javelin throw, and Aman Sehrawat earned a bronze in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling category.

The Possibility of a Seventh Medal for India

There remains a possibility of India winning a seventh medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has yet to deliver its final decision on Vinesh Phogat’s appeal. Vinesh was disqualified from the gold medal match in the women’s 50kg wrestling event due to being overweight and has appealed for a joint-silver medal. The CAS has extended the deadline for its decision to August 11, 2024, with a final ruling expected by 6:00 PM, as announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

India sent a contingent of 117 athletes to the Paris Olympics, and their combined efforts have resulted in six confirmed medals. Whether Vinesh Phogat’s appeal will lead to a seventh medal remains uncertain, but it would be a remarkable addition to India’s achievements at these Games.

A Look Back at India’s Performance at Tokyo 2021

India’s performance at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics marked a historic achievement for the nation. The Indian contingent won a total of seven medals—one gold, two silver, and four bronze—making it the country’s best-ever haul at the Olympics.

The Tokyo 2021 highlights include Neeraj Chopra’s historic gold in the men’s javelin throw, which was India’s first-ever Olympic gold in athletics. Other medalists included Mirabai Chanu (silver in weightlifting), Ravi Kumar Dahiya (silver in wrestling), PV Sindhu (bronze in badminton), Lovlina Borgohain (bronze in boxing), Bajrang Punia (bronze in wrestling), and the men’s hockey team (bronze), which ended a 41-year Olympic medal drought.

As the 2024 Summer Olympics come to a close, India’s athletes have once again shown their talent and determination on the global stage. While the six-medal haul at Paris 2024 fell just short of the seven medals won in Tokyo, it represents another proud chapter in the nation’s sporting history.
