As the Paris Olympics 2024 has come to an end, a surprising and unexpected achievement has come to light. India has achieved a historic milestone in the sport of breakdancing. Yes, you heard it right.
However, the country did not field any athletes in breakdancing at the 2024 Olympics. Instead, the B-girl making headlines is actually 18-year-old India Sardjoe from The Hague, Netherlands.
The Dutch athlete, known by the stage name ‘India’, won her opening match against B-girl Talash from the refugee team in the women’s breakdancing event. Following this, she was assigned to Group A with competitors from China, the United States, and Portugal.
Later, she made history as the first-ever Olympic champion in a breakdancing battle.
Meanwhile, at Paris Olympics 2024, India sent a delegation of 117 athletes who competed in 69 medal events across 16 sports, including archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, equestrian, golf, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and tennis.
