Paris Olympics 2024: Bill Gates’s Son-in-Law Nayel Nassar To Represent Egypt in Equestrian Events

Nayel Nassar, the son-in-law of Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, is gearing up to represent Egypt at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 33 year-old Nassar, who is a professional equestrian, has been married to the elder daughter of Melinda and Bill Gates, Jennifer Gates. He is set to compete in the equestrian jumping event.

The equestrian competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics feature three disciplines: dressage, eventing, and jumping. Nassar will participate in the individual jumping event, showcasing his expertise in a sport he has been passionate about from a young age.

Nassar’s Olympic journey is well-established; he previously competed for Egypt in the 2012 London Summer Olympics and qualified for the finals of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. His equestrian career began early; he started riding horses at the age of five and began jumping at ten. Born in Chicago and raised in Kuwait, Nassar has developed into a seasoned competitor in the sport.

Nassar received encouragement from his mother-in-law, Melinda French Gates, who expressed her support on Instagram: “So excited to watch you compete at the Olympics, Nayel Nassar. I’m rooting for you.”

Nayel Nassar and Jennifer Gates began their relationship in 2017 and were married in 2021. They welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March 2023 and recently announced they are expecting their second child. Jennifer Gates is also an accomplished equestrian, further highlighting the couple’s shared passion for the sport.

While it remains uncertain whether Melinda and Bill Gates will attend the Paris Olympics, the event has attracted a notable roster of VIPs. Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani was seen at the opening ceremony alongside her husband Mukesh Ambani and their daughter Isha Ambani. Additionally, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon are reportedly among the high-profile attendees in Paris for the Olympics.

As the countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympics continues, all eyes will be on Nassar as he represents Egypt and competes on the global stage.
