The much-anticipated Paris Olympics 2024 officially commenced yesterday, marking the start of an exhilarating journey for athletes from around the world. Today, July 28, Google is celebrating the football tournaments scheduled for the games in the French capital with a unique animated doodle. The doodle humorously features a chicken attempting a headshot with an avocado, which serves as a football, while another chicken eagerly waits to strike.

This year’s Olympics schedule includes intense football tournaments for both men and women, promising thrilling matches as 16 nations compete for the gold medal in Paris. These teams will showcase their skills across seven stadiums, divided into four groups.

The participating teams include:

  • Group A: France, Guinea, New Zealand, USA
  • Group B: Argentina, Iraq, Ukraine, Morocco
  • Group C: Uzbekistan, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Spain
  • Group D: Israel, Paraguay, Japan, Mali

The group matches will begin on Tuesday, July 30, featuring the following clashes:

  • New Zealand vs. France
  • USA vs. Guinea
  • Ukraine vs. Argentina
  • Morocco vs. Iraq
  • Dominican Republic vs. Uzbekistan
  • Spain vs. Egypt
  • Israel vs. Japan
  • Paraguay vs. Mali

The quarter-finals are set for Friday, August 2, followed by the semi-finals on Monday, August 5. The bronze medal match will be held on Thursday, August 8, and the competition will culminate in the gold medal match at the iconic Parc des Princes in Paris on Friday, August 9.
