Paris Olympics 2024: Greek Athlete Expelled From Olympic Village After Testing Positive For Doping


On Tuesday, August 6, the Greek Olympic Committee announced that a Greek athlete had tested positive for banned substances at the Paris Games and has been expelled from the athletes’ village.

The Greek team was notified of the positive test by Greece’s anti-doping agency on Monday afternoon. The athlete’s identity and sport were not disclosed, but they have been provisionally suspended and removed from the team.

So far, the Paris Games have had only a few positive drug tests, including that of Nigeria’s Cynthia Ogunsemilore, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and African Games boxing champion.

Additionally, Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen tested positive for steroids just a day before the Games began.
