Paris Olympics 2024: Social Media Erupts Over French Athlete’s Mishap, Video Goes Viral

The 21-year-old athlete narrowly missed qualifying for the pole vault final due to an unfortunate incident involving his crotch. During his qualifying attempt on Saturday, Ammirati’s bulge seemingly knocked down the pole, causing him to fail the jump.

The incident, which left commentators at a loss for words, quickly led to a wave of memes and jokes on social media. One Twitter user quipped, “When you’re about to win an Olympic medal but your massive d**** gets in the way while the whole world watches in slow motion.”

While French media outlets emphasize the disappointment for Ammirati, who will miss his chance at an Olympic medal, the viral incident has brought some comic relief amid a series of controversies surrounding these Games. Earlier, the event’s artistic director Thomas Jolly and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif both faced online hate speech.

Ammirati had successfully cleared two different heights before the notorious incident occurred during his qualifying jump on Saturday. Despite finishing in 12th place with a height of 5.60m in Group A, Ammirati’s name has become synonymous with a wardrobe malfunction that has captivated social media worldwide.

The young Frenchman’s bulge seemingly caused him to knock down the pole, leading to a failed attempt that triggered a wave of memes and jokes online.

Experts suggest that using an ergonomic cup or similar protective gear could have prevented the unfortunate incident, allowing Ammirati to focus solely on his athletic performance.

For Ammirati, the attention has shifted from his athletic achievements to an unexpected wardrobe malfunction that has captivated a global audience. As the Olympic Games proceed, this incident is likely to remain a topic of discussion and humor in the digital sphere.
