In the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, Indian swimmers Srihari Nataraj & Dhinidhi Desinghu failed to qualify for the semifinals in their respective events on Sunday.
As a result, the Indian swimming campaign came to an end in this multi-sport game. Srihari Nataraj came joint second in the slower heat. The 23-year-old finished at the timing of 55.01s. However, Nataraj stood at 33rd in the overall rank of the 100m men’s backstroke event. Notably, the 16 fastest swimmers from the heats advance to the semifinals.
This performance was well below Nataraj’s 53.77 seconds performance and it was significantly slower than his season-best time of 54.68 seconds.
Meanwhile, despite performing well at 200m women’s freestyle heat, the youngest member of Indian contingent, Desinghu also did not qualify for the semifinals.
But swimming at heat 1, Dhinidhi reached the pads at 2:06.96 and out of 30 participants, she stood at 23rd position. In these rankings, Australia’s three time olympic champion Ariarne Titmus was also mentioned.
