Jharkhand MLA Releases Music Video Shortly Before Central Agency Interrogation

Jharkhand Congress legislator Amba Prasad faced over six hours of questioning yesterday in a money laundering case. However, prior to this, she unveiled her debut music video ‘Jiya Harshaye’ to commemorate one of the largest tribal festivals in her state. Ms. Prasad introduced her music video at a press conference in Ranchi yesterday morning, just before Sarhul, a spring festival observed in Jharkhand to herald the new year.
“It is a small initiative. I have been fond of music and dance since childhood and we made this on Sarhul,” said Ms Prasad, the video, dedicated to nature, featured Amba Prasad both singing and dancing.

Following the video release, Amba Prasad endured an exhaustive interrogation session at the Enforcement Directorate office, which extended until 9 pm. Upon departing, she informed reporters that the majority of the inquiries centered on the electronic devices confiscated from her. Additionally, she revealed being summoned to appear again on Tuesday.

Amba Prasad’s father, former minister Yogendra Sao, underwent questioning by the agency on April 3-4 in connection with an alleged extortion and land-grabbing case. Prior to her visit to the ED office on Monday, the 36-year-old MLA expressed her passion for music and dance to reporters, emphasizing the importance of preserving one’s culture.

She shared that while casually humming music one day, she was struck by the idea of conveying a message through music. The Barkagaon MLA mentioned that she recorded the song in just an hour, while filming the video took approximately six hours.
“Music is a part of life and I take part whenever I get an opportunity. Music calms down the mind and gives us strength. This is scientific, it reduces mental stress,” she said.

Ms. Prasad additionally addressed the ED summons, highlighting that this wasn’t the first challenge she had encountered. “I have been facing challenges since childhood, but I believe that truth will prevail at the end,” she had said.

In March, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on the premises of Ms. Prasad and her father as part of its investigation into alleged extortion, levy collection, illegal sand mining, and land grabbing. The agency reported seizing “Rs 35 lakh unexplained cash, digital devices, fake stamps of circle offices, banks, etc., and incriminating documents,” along with records associated with illegal sand mining in Jharkhand.
