Three additional suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder of Baba Tarsem Singh, the chief of Nanakmatta Gurdwara’s ‘karseva’ in Udham Singh Nagar, as per police reports. They are allegedly implicated in orchestrating the crime by mobilizing criminals, providing support, and furnishing weapons.
Baba Tarsem Singh was fatally shot on March 28 by two assailants on motorcycles at Nanakmatta Gurdwara in Udham Singh Nagar. Former IAS officer Harbansh Singh Chugh, along with two others, Pritam Singh and Baba Anoop Singh, were previously named in an FIR for their alleged involvement in the murder.
The Udham Singh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has raised the reward for the two main accused shooters, Amarjit Singh and Sarabjit Singh, from Rs 50,000 to one lakh each. Earlier arrests on April 4 included four individuals who were allegedly aiding the fugitive assailants. Several cases have been registered against the accused in multiple states.
According to Karseva ‘sevadar’ Jasbir Singh, Chugh, Pritam Singh, and Baba Anoop Singh conspired to eliminate Baba Tarsem Singh, who was hindering their misappropriation of Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib’s property. Uttarakhand Police, in close coordination with central agencies, continue their intensive investigation and search operation, conducting raids in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab to locate the suspects.
Uttarakhand’s Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, revealed that two masked assailants entered Nanakmatta Gurdwara and shot Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh, who succumbed to his injuries at Khatima Hospital.
