Dreaming of Becoming an Astronaut? Learn How to Register for ISRO’s Young Scientist Programme, YUVIKA-2024!

For young enthusiasts harbouring dreams of space exploration, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) presents a golden opportunity through its Young Scientist Programme – YUVIKA. YUVIKA, short for YUva VIgyani KAryakram, is a specially designed initiative to educate and inspire school children about space science, technology, and applications.

What is YUVIKA?

YUVIKA was launched by ISRO in 2019 to instil basic knowledge of space science, technology, and applications in young minds. The program targets students who have completed the 8th standard and are currently studying in the 9th standard. It spans two weeks and includes classroom training, practical experiments, hands-on activities such as CANSAT, Robotic kit, Model rocketry, sky gazing, technical facility visits, and interactions with ISRO scientists.

Who Can Apply for YUVIKA – 2024?

The ISRO Young Scientist Programme (YUVIKA) is open to Indian students enrolled in Class 9 as of January 1, 2024. The program welcomes applications from students across all states and union territories of India, with a preference for rural areas.

How to Apply for YUVIKA – 2024?

The YUVIKA-2024 program is scheduled to be held from May 14 to May 25, 2024. The registration process will take place from February 20 to March 20, 2024. To apply, students need to follow these steps:

  • Register on the ISRO Antariksha Jigyasa Platform: https://jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/registration
  • Verify your email by clicking on the verification link sent to your registered email ID.
  • Participate in the SpaceQuiz after reading the guidelines carefully.
  • Fill in your personal profile and education details.
  • Obtain a photocopy of your certificates attested by the Principal/Head of School, scan, and upload them on the website.
  • Generate your certificate for verification by your Principal/Head of School/Parent/Guardian.
  • Scan and upload the required documents and submit the application.

Selection Process for YUVIKA: Students are selected from all states and union territories based on their academic performance, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The selection ensures equal representation from each state and union territory, and reservations for SC/ST and differently-abled students are applied as per government norms. The list of selected students will be announced on the ISRO website by April 10, 2024.
