Bringing in the latest news in the sports fraternity ex Indian cricketer Joginder Sharma, who is known for his heroic bowling performance in 2007 T20 World Cup for India, announced his retirement from all domestic and international cricket on Friday. The cricketer who later turned police officer thanked the board, Haryana Cricket Association, Chennai Super Kings, and the Haryana Government for the opportunities they gave him in a letter to the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“Today, I announce my retirement from all forms of domestic and international cricket with immense gratitude and humility. It was an honor to represent India at the highest level of the sport during my journey from 2002 to 2017. These were some of the most wonderful years of my life. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Haryana Cricket Association, Chennai Super Kings, and the Haryana Government have provided me with opportunities,” Joginder stated.

In addition, the former all-rounder sent a sincere message to his loved ones, who had stood by him through thick and thin.

“In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to my friends and family for their unwavering love and assistance throughout my career. The World Cup-winning player said, “They have been my backbones, and without them, I would not have been able to achieve what I have today.”

If you don’t already know, in his small yet impactful career Joginder made four T20I and ODI appearances for India. However, cricket fans will always remember the right-arm bowler for his famous last over against Pakistan in the 2007 T20I World Cup victory.

In that over, he defended 13 runs despite allowing seven runs in the first two balls. Apart from his heroic p[performance in the finals, in the semifinals, he also bowled the final over against Australia, scoring just 7 runs and taking 2 wickets.

Meanwhile In the Indian Premier League, Joginder Sharma has only appeared in sixteen games. He played for the Chennai Super Kings, where he took 12 wickets and scored 36 runs. In 2016 and 2017, he was not sold because his economy rate of 9.82 did not help him keep his spot on the team. The player is currently working as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for the Haryana Police. ANI)
