The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made adjustments to the IPL 2024 schedule, affecting matches involving Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Delhi Capitals (DC).
The IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, originally scheduled for April 17, 2024, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, has been rescheduled to April 16, 2024. Similarly, the fixture between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, slated to be held at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on April 16, 2024, will now take place on April 17, 2024.
While the BCCI did not provide a specific reason for the rescheduling, it was reported earlier that the change was due to Ram Navami. Kolkata Police cited security concerns for KKR’s third home game of the season, especially with Bengal’s voting scheduled for April 19 in the general elections.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) suggested either advancing the match by a day or delaying it by 24 hours to accommodate logistical challenges.
Currently, KKR is away in Visakhapatnam for a game against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. The rescheduling ensures smoother operations and adequate arrangements for both the IPL matches and other concurrent events.
