The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said on Monday that iconic Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and the BCCI will honour the World Cup winner India U19 women’s team on February 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“It is with great delight I share that Bharat Ratna Shri @sachin_rt and @BCCI Office Bearers will felicitate the victorious India U19 team on Feb 1st in Narendra Modi Stadium at 6:30 PM IST. The young cricketers have made India proud and we will honour their achievements,” Jay Shah wrote on Twitter. Coming to the match, Indian bowlers’ tremendous bowling performance followed by Gongadi Trisha and Soumya Tiwari’s knocks helped India lift the inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title after defeating England by seven wickets in the summit clash at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa on Sunday.
Shafali Verma’s Team India trounced England in a one-sided summit showdown, knocking them out for 68 and then chasing the mark down in 14 overs.
The key to India’s march to victory was another clinical display with the ball, with Titas Sadhu setting the pace and the spinners providing another telling performance when it mattered.
Outstanding fielding complemented the excellent bowling. The dismissal of England’s captain, Grace Scrivens, exemplified the Indians’ tenacity. Gongadi Trisha rushed in and leaped forward to grab a wonderful, leaping catch after the left-hander hit Archana towards long-off.

England’s hopes for more heroics with the ball were raised when they removed Verma (15) and Shweta Sehrawat (5) inside the first four overs. Verma hit a four and a six as she tried to put the heat on England early before she top-edged Hannah Baker to short fine-leg.
Soumya Tiwari and Trisha were having none of it. Tiwari smacked three fours in her 24 not out from 37 balls, while Trisha got more and more fluent as the target came into sight. Her 29-ball stay was ended on 24, bowled by Alexa Stonehouse as she tried to finish it off in style.
