BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Announces New NCA Facilities For Neeraj Chopra and Other Olympic Athletes

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has announced that the upcoming National Cricket Academy (NCA) facility in Bangalore will not only cater to cricketers but will also open its doors to Olympians, including javelin star Neeraj Chopra. The new state-of-the-art facility, located on the outskirts of Bangalore, aims to provide top-notch training, recovery, and sports science support for a range of athletes.

Since its inception in 2000, the existing NCA has been operating from the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in central Bangalore. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has provided the BCCI with outdoor practice grounds, an indoor practice facility, and a modern gymnasium.

The new NCA will feature advanced facilities designed to help athletes achieve peak physical condition and recover effectively from injuries. In a recent interview with the Times of India, Shah highlighted the inclusive approach of the new facility, stating that it will welcome Olympians like Neeraj Chopra to make use of its resources.

Shah celebrated Chopra’s recent achievements, tweeting, “Back-to-back Olympic medals for our star, Neeraj Chopra! India’s first silver medal at the #Paris2024 Olympics is a remarkable feat. Although you fell short of gold, your dedication and performance were truly inspiring!”

Chopra’s silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics marked a historic moment, making him the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two Olympic medals. He had previously clinched gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
