Skipper Pat Cummins won the coin toss and chose to field first in today’s match. The defending champions Chennai Super Kings are one of the in-form teams this season. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, they have won two of their three games played so far. Their sole defeat came in their most recent match against Delhi Capitals, who beat CSK by 20 runs in Visakhapatnam. However, fans enjoyed seeing MS Dhoni bat for the first time this year, scoring 37 runs off just 16 balls.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad started their campaign with a loss to Kolkata Knight Riders. It was an excellent chase led by destructive batsman Heinrich Klaasen, but SRH fell just four runs short. In their second match against Mumbai Indians, they broke several records and posted the highest ever team total in IPL history with 277-3 in 20 overs. They won that game by 31 runs. However, in their last game, they lost again, this time to Gujarat Titans.
SRH won the match 18 against CSK of the ongoing IPL 2024 by six wickets. CSK faced their first defeat of the season with a 20-run loss to Delhi Capitals in Vizag. MS Dhoni’s impressive 37-run innings off 16 balls may have softened the blow of the loss, reminding fans of his past dominance against bowlers. CSK was keen to avoid another consecutive loss but it was sheer hard luck today as well.
SRH posted the highest IPL total Vs Mumbai Indians and defeated them.
SRH defeated CSK while having an overall record of 14-5.
