Happy Birthday Risabh Pant : Remembering His Five Incredible Knocks On His Birthday

Indian Cricket Team boasts a good legacy of keepers, from Rahul Dravid to MS Dhoni to current wicketkeeper star Risabh Pant. Risabh Pant is always known for his jolly nature and witty sense of humor. His stump mic commentaries are testimonials of his sense of humor. He’s also the first choice keeper for India in all three formats and he captains the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals.

He became an inspiration for the country when he won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by making an incredible comeback from the heinous accident. On his special day, we look back at his five incredible knocks that helped India and his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals win the games.

Comeback century against Bangladesh

In the recent Bangladesh series, where India dominated the series 2-0 Risabh scored his comeback century. Now, the Delhi Capitals captain has scored six centuries. Pant now has equalled the tally with MS Dhoni by scoring six centuries in the Test cricket.

Most centuries scored by an Indian Test wicketkeeper. This ton has secured the place of Risabh Pant as the first choice wicket-keeper batsman for the next Border-Gavaskar trophy later this year in Australia.

Fastest Half-century by an Indian in Test cricket

Risabh Pant etched his name in the history books in the year 2022 when he scored the fastest half century ever in the history of Indian cricket. Before this, only the great Kapil Dev had a better record than Risabh Pant. Kapil Dev had scored it in 32 balls in 1986.

Risabh Pant broke this record in the year 2022, when he scored this half century only in 28 balls against arch-rivals Srilanka. He completed this half-century in the historic Chinaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.

Famous knock of Gabba

On January 19, 2021, the whole world witnessed one of the greatest knocks ever. The 89 scored by the Risabh Pant has gone down as the greatest 89 knock ever. It broke the streak of Australia at Gabba which was considered as their fortress. It’s a stadium where the Australian cricket team hasn’t lost a game since the year 1988.

He played an incredible partnership of 148 runs for the fourth wicket on the last day to create history for the Indian cricket team in a nick of a time. It is considered as one of the great knocks on the last day in the history of test cricket.

Fastest Fifty in the IPL

Risabh Pant came to bat at number 5 in 2019 against Mumbai Indians in an IPL fixture. Before this game, he had a bad Australian series where he didn’t score many runs and dropped many catches. Pant saw this game as a redemption and scored the fastest half century in the history of the IPL.

This inning is special because he even didn’t show any mercy to the best death bowler in the current day cricket Jasprit Bumrah. He scored the fastest half century in just 18 balls. He finally finished the innings with 78 runs out of 27 balls with the final score being 213 for 6 after 20 overs.

The fastest record till this point was held by MS Dhoni who scored the half-century in just 20 balls against Mumbai.

Important 146 in Birmingham

Risabh Pant played one of the most important knocks against England in the year 2022. India were 5 wickets down at 98 runs. That’s when Pant stepped on the crease and scored 146 runs just out of 111 balls. This famous 146 knock had 19 fours and 4 sixes.

This innings helped India to fight back on the first day of the Birmingham test. He broke the record for fastest century by a wicketkeeper in the test cricket. Earlier, MS Dhoni had the record for the fastest hundred in the year 2005-26 with 93 balls.

Risabh Pant and Ravi Jadeja had the partnership of 222 where the English left arm spinner Jack Leach was mercilessly battered.
