Avani Lekhara, who made history by securing her second gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event, expressed her thrill at the team’s success. “It has been a great journey, and we’ve won many medals this time,” she said. Lekhara’s victory makes her the first Indian woman to win two gold medals in Paralympic history.
Mona Agarwal, who won bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event, was visibly moved by the reception. “I feel great to receive so much love. My Paralympic journey was amazing, especially as it was my first time,” she remarked.
Para-archer Rakesh Kumar, who, alongside partner Sheetal Devi, clinched bronze in the Mixed Team Compound event, attributed his success to his coaches. “I’m feeling great… The credit goes to my coaches. We’ll work even harder for the next Paralympics,” Kumar stated.
India’s outstanding performance at the Paris Paralympics has resulted in a record-setting medal haul of 27, including six gold, nine silver, and 12 bronze medals. This surpasses the previous record of five gold medals set at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The Paralympics, which began on August 28, are set to conclude on September 8.
