The young Indian opener shot up to 12th place in the most recent ICC Mens’ Player Rankings among batters on Wednesday, following brilliant performances in the fourth Test of a five-match series against England. Following a century in the fourth match in Ranchi, which India won by five wickets to take a 3-1 lead in the five-match series, former England captain Joe Root is back in the top three of the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings. After hitting an unbeaten 122 in the first inning, left-hander Jaiswal, who began the series in 69th place, jumped three spots to 12th place, while Root, who was previously ranked first among batters, moved up two spots to third place. Additionally, Root rose three places to fourth.
With 655 runs in four games and eight innings at an average of over 93, including two double hundreds and two fifties, Jaiswal leads the series in runs scored thus far. The Netherlands’ Aryan Dutt followed up his six for 34 last week against Namibia with hauls of two for 41 and three for 16 to continue his march up the bowling rankings, reaching joint-36th position.
Gerhard Erasmus, the captain of Namibia, scored 52 runs against Nepal and three wickets for 33 against the Netherlands to become the first player to rank among the top 10 all-rounders. Travis Head, an Australian batter, has made a breakthrough into the top 20 of the T20I Rankings following his scores of 24, 45, and 33 during the series against New Zealand. Tim David rose six spots to 22nd and crossed the 600-point mark for the first time in his career with a brilliant 31 off just 10 balls in the opening game.
