India Aims for 25 Medals at Paris Paralympics, Says PCI Chief Coach

Satyanarayana, Chief Coach of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), has set an ambitious target for the Indian contingent at the upcoming Paris Paralympic Games, which will commence on August 28. Speaking to ANI, Satyanarayana expressed confidence that India will secure at least 25 medals at the Games.

The Paris Paralympics will run from August 28 to September 8, following the conclusion of the Paris Olympics. Satyanarayana highlighted that this year, India is sending its largest ever delegation of 84 athletes, competing in 11 different sports. He expressed optimism about surpassing the performance of the last Paralympics, where India won just five gold medals.

“We are going to have a very strong contingent. This time, not less than 25 medals. We want to change the color of the medals and increase our tally. Most athletes are performing well,” Satyanarayana stated.

He also praised the support from the government, corporates, and media, noting that such backing has been instrumental in the progress of Paralympic sports. “The government has been supportive and shown no discrimination between Olympics and Paralympics sports,” he added.

Satyanarayana is currently in Paris to help athletes acclimate to the local climate and conditions. He encouraged sports enthusiasts to follow the Paralympic events closely and support the athletes. “I urge everyone to support us, as that encouragement is as valuable as our practice,” he concluded.
