Indian javelin throwers dominated Lebanon Athletics Championships 2023 and bagged two gold medals and a silver medal at the championship.
At the Lebanon Athletics Championships 2023 in Beirut on July 21, Indian athletes Annu Rani and Kishore Jena won gold medals in the men’s and women’s javelin throw competitions, respectively. Shivpal won the silver medal (73.34m) in the men’s event.
Annu Rani recorded a best throw of 55.32m to top the six-woman field. Annu Rani’s distance at Lebanon, however, was more than double what silver medallist Lynn Nader (26.48m) managed.
Since the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, when Annu Rani won the bronze medal, she has competed in four events without exceeding the 60-meter mark.
At the Lebanon Athletics Championships, Annu Rani covered a distance more than twice as far as silver medalist Lynn Nader (26.48m).
Kishore Jena achieved a distance of 78.96m to clinch the gold medal. His personal best is 82.87, achieved in Bhubaneshwar last month. This was the first-ever international tournament for Kishore.
