India secured a thrilling victory in a Super Over against Sri Lanka, clinching the T20I series 3-0. Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill opened for India in the Super Over, with Yadav hitting the first ball for four runs, sealing the win.
Sri Lanka’s dramatic collapse from 110/1 to 132/8 allowed India back into the match. India’s Rinku Singh took two wickets in an over, and captain Suryakumar Yadav claimed two in the final over to force the game into a Super Over. In the Super Over, India secured a comfortable win.
Earlier in the match, Maheesh Theekshana took three wickets, limiting India to a modest total after the Sri Lankan captain chose to bowl first following a rain delay. This victory marks a successful start for Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy. The teams now look forward to the ODI series, beginning Friday at 2:30 PM IST.
This was also Gautam Gambhir’s debut as the coach of the Indian cricket team. It proved to be a great start for him.
