IPL Commencing On March 22, CSK To Face RCB In Opener

The much-awaited 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to commence on March 22, with an exciting clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The IPL schedule has been unveiled, covering matches until April 7. However, additional dates are pending due to the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls, which are yet to be scheduled. IPL enthusiasts can anticipate four doubleheaders during this initial phase of the tournament.

One of the most anticipated matchups of the season will take place on March 24, as last year’s runners-up, Gujarat Titans, go head-to-head against the formidable five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, in Ahmedabad. This fixture is generating considerable buzz, particularly with the return of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya to MI after two successful seasons with GT. Pandya led GT to victory in their debut season in 2022 and will now lead MI, succeeding Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill will captain the Gujarat Titans. On the same day, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants will kick off their campaign in Jaipur.

Delhi Capitals, another strong contender, will host their home matches at Vizag on March 31 and April 3 against CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will not be available to host matches immediately after hosting the Women’s Premier League final on March 17.

March 23 will witness the first double-header of the season, with Punjab Kings taking on Delhi Capitals in Mohali, while two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their campaign in Kolkata.

Cricket enthusiasts and fans of the IPL can gear up for an action-packed season filled with thrilling matches and intense competition as the teams battle it out for the coveted trophy.
