Mayank Yadav Earns ‘Child Of The Wind’ Title, Surprises Legends Breaking IPL Speed Records

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continued their winning streak in the IPL 2024 with a convincing 28-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The star of the match was once again Mayank Yadav, the 21-year-old pacer who showcased his raw pace and talent by claiming three crucial wickets for just 14 runs in his four-over spell.

Mayank Yadav, who made his debut against Punjab Kings in LSG’s previous match, proved that he is not a one-match wonder. He was awarded the Player of the Match for the second consecutive time for his exceptional performance against RCB. The young pacer set the stage on fire with his rapid pace, recording a staggering 156.7 kph delivery during the match.

In the crucial chase of 182 runs, Mayank made a significant impact by dismissing key RCB batsmen. He first sent Glenn Maxwell back to the pavilion for a second-ball duck, as Maxwell mistimed a short delivery and was caught by Nicholas Pooran. Mayank then bowled a sensational delivery to Cameron Green, hitting the top of off-stump with a ball that nipped back in, leaving Green stunned. His third victim was Rajat Patidar, who fell to a well-executed pull shot that ended up in the hands of Devdutt Padikkal.

The cricket fraternity was quick to acknowledge Mayank Yadav’s impressive bowling display. Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav and former cricketer Dale Steyn expressed their admiration for Mayank’s raw pace.

“Tezzzzz aur toooofaaannnniiiii What speed #MayankYadav,” Suryakumar tweeted.

 “That’s a serious ball! #PACE,” Steyn wrote.

Legendary Windies cricketer Ian Bishop also joined the chorus of praises for the LSG paceman, describing Mayank Yadav as a “child of the wind.”

Speaking after the match, Mayank Yadav expressed his happiness at winning the Player of the Match award for the second consecutive game. He emphasized that his ultimate goal is to represent India on the international stage.

“Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start,” Mayank said.

When asked about his favorite wicket of the match, Mayank mentioned Cameron Green’s dismissal as the most satisfying. He also highlighted the importance of various factors like diet, sleep, and training in maintaining his pace and performance.

“I enjoyed Cameron Green’s wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick – diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery – ice bath,” he added.

With this impressive victory, LSG continues to build momentum in the IPL 2024, showcasing the talent and potential of young players like Mayank Yadav. Fans can expect more thrilling performances as the tournament progresses.
