Boxing fans look forward to a blockbuster for the ages as an icon in boxing, Mike Tyson, is set to head back to the ring to battle YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The blockbuster bout is scheduled for November 15, 2024, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and the spectacle will be brought straight to fans’ screens worldwide, exclusively via Netflix. For viewers across India, the event will go live at 6:30 AM IST on November 16.
The fight was on July 20, 2024. Tyson, however was diagnosed with a health complication that saw the postponement of the fight. The former World Champion began developing an ulcer flare-up; doctors advised him to decrease his training intensity. Tyson has rested and recovered since then.
Mike Tyson, once known as the “Baddest Man on the Planet,” will face Jake Paul in an eight-round affair, this one as a heavyweight bout. Each round is slated for two minutes. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will serve as the overseeing authority for the bout. Of interest: 14-ounce gloves for the bout – much heavier than the standard professional boxer’s glove. Both contenders are eager to gain strength and testimony for themselves as both look forward to the one that appears to be promising to be an exciting contest.
While Tyson vs. Paul is squarely the main event, Indian boxing fans will also be keeping an eye on the same event for another thrilling bout. Neeraj Goyat, arguably one of India’s brightest young prospects as a boxer, faces Whindersson Nunes for a scheduled middleweight bout. Goyat’s appearance in this big-ticket event had been backed by Zomato, whose Chief Executive Deepinder Goyal had stated that the firm had planned the formal tie-up for the Indian pugilist.
Also on the undercard are a few title fights. Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano fight for the undisputed women’s junior welterweight title. Also, WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios defends against Abel Ramos
