Legendary boxer Mike Tyson is set to make a much-anticipated return to the ring after 19 years. Tyson, 58, will face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, November 16 (IST).
Tyson last fought on June 11, 2005, against Irish heavyweight Kevin McBride, a match he lost due to a sixth-round retirement despite leading on two judges’ scorecards.
Ahead of the fight, Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) and Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) engaged in an intense face-off. The situation escalated when Tyson slapped Paul, leaving the YouTuber visibly shaken. The confrontation required bystanders to step in and restrain the former heavyweight champion.
The match, originally scheduled for July 20, was postponed after Tyson experienced a medical episode during a flight. The boxing legend needed time to recover from a stomach ulcer, delaying the bout by four months.
Jake Paul, who primarily fought UFC fighters in his career, had an impressive six-fight winning streak before facing British boxer Tommy Fury earlier this year. That bout, held in Saudi Arabia, marked Paul’s first professional defeat, highlighting his limitations against seasoned boxers.
