Mohammed Shami Gives Injury Update After Getting Ruled Out IPL 2024 : “Recently Had My Stitches Removed”

Mohammed Shami shared an injury update on his social media after being sidelined from the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The Indian pacer, who showcased stellar performances during the ODI World Cup 2023, has been absent from matches since the tournament and missed the South Africa tour as well as the Test series against England. Shami underwent heel surgery in February this year and was expected to undergo a recovery period.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, Shami updated fans on his progress, mentioning that he had recently had his stitches removed. Expressing gratitude for his advancements, he expressed anticipation for the next phase of his recovery.

“Hello everyone! I wanted to provide an update on my recovery progress. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I recently had my stitches removed. I am thankful for the advancements I have achieved and looking forward to the next stage of my healing journey,” Shami shared on Instagram.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently confirmed that Shami will also miss the T20 World Cup 2024 as India prepares for the tournament in the Caribbean and the US. Shah further stated that Shami is expected to return for the home series against Bangladesh in September.

“Shami’s surgery is completed, and he is back in India. Shami’s return is likely for the home series against Bangladesh,” said Jay Shah in an interview. Shami’s absence will be felt by Gujarat Titans, where he previously served as the spearhead of their attack. With 28 wickets to his credit, the pacer also claimed the Purple Cap last season as GT progressed to the final.
