Nita Ambani, an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, congratulated Neeraj Chopra on winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
Chopra, 26, narrowly missed retaining his gold medal, achieving his best throw of 89.45 meters. Despite a strong second attempt, he struggled with four consecutive fouls, which prevented him from securing gold. He is now the second male athlete from post-independence India to win two Olympic medals in an individual event.
Nita Ambani praised Neeraj’s achievement, saying that his silver medal has lifted the spirits of the entire nation and made every Indian proud. She added that Neeraj will be remembered as a true legend for generations to come.
“Congratulations, Neeraj Chopra, on winning silver in javelin at the Paris Games! You have once again lifted the spirits of the entire nation and made every Indian proud! Your journey from Shivaji Stadium in Panipat to the Stade de France in Paris is a beacon of hope and inspiration for every athlete and all of us. You will be remembered as a true legend of Indian athletics for generations to come. Wishing you even greater success and glory in the years ahead,” Nita Ambani said in a statement.
Neeraj’s first and third attempts were invalidated by red flags, and his final three throws were also fouls. Despite his strong performance in the qualification round, where he threw 89.34 meters, his 89.45-meter throw in the final was his second-best but not enough to retain his gold. He appeared under pressure during his runs, and his fifth and sixth attempts were also disqualified due to crossing the line.
