Shubhman Gill, a young Indian hitter, advanced 20 places in the current ICC Men’s ODI Rankings for batters, which were released on Wednesday.

His ascension follows a spectacular series against New Zealand in which he was named ‘Man of the Series’ after reaching 360 runs in three innings, including a double century in the first ODI and a century in the final ODI. Gill has a remarkable 2023 in One-Day Internationals, having scored 567 runs in six innings at an average of 113.40. This year, he has three ODI tonnes and a fifty, with a top score of 208.
On Tuesday, he scored his 2,000th international run against New Zealand.

Gill maintained his consistency as an opener, making the most of every occasion. He scored 112 runs in 78 balls. His innings featured 13 fours and five sixes. His strike rate was 143.58 per inning.

Gill has now scored 2,048 runs at an average of 47.62 in 37 matches and 49 innings. In international cricket, he has five hundreds and nine fifties, with the highest individual score of 208.

Gill has 736 runs in 13 Test matches in 25 innings at an average of 32.00. In the format, he has one century and four half-centuries, with a top score of 110.

Gill has scored 1,254 runs in 21 ODIs and an equal number of innings at an average of 73.76. He has scored four centuries and five half-centuries in the format, with the best score of 208.

The batter has played three T20Is for India, scoring 58 runs at an average of 19.33 in three matches, with best of 46.

In this match, the 23-year-old batter added another record to his list, becoming the Indian with the most number of runs in a three-match ODI series.
