Indian shooters Palak and Sainyam secured spots in the final of the women’s 10m air pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Final Olympic Qualification Championship Rifle / Pistol in Rio de Janeiro, keeping India’s hopes alive for a Paris Olympic 2024 quota.
The final will be broadcast live on the ISSF YouTube channel from 5.50 pm IST on Sunday. Palak and Sainyam both scored 578 points in their respective qualification relays, placing sixth and seventh, respectively, and boosting India’s chances of securing one of the available quota places.
Unfortunately, Surbhi Rao narrowly missed the top eight, also scoring 578 points but losing out due to fewer hits in the inner 10 ring, finishing ninth.
Mariami Profiashvili led the field with a score of 582, followed by Hungarian standout Veronika Major, who also secured her spot. Additionally, shooters from France, Armenia, and Thailand are also in contention.
