The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been at loggerheads since Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has stuck to his stand that India will not tour Pakistan for the tournament.
Matters between the two cricket boards heated up when former PCB chairman Rameez Raja warned the BCCI that their decision could have dire consequences. Because Pakistan can also be out of the ODI World Cup to be held in India.
On Saturday, BCCI secretary Shah and PCB chairman Sethi held talks at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Bahrain to discuss the hosting matter of Asia Cup 2023. It was discussed in the meeting that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could host the Asia Cup.
According to sources, Sethi warned Shah in the meeting that if India pulls out of the September event, Pakistan will not participate in the World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November.
A final decision on the venue is expected to be taken in March when the ICC and ACC executive boards meet back-to-back.
