HS Pronnoy advances in finals of Malaysia Masters 2023

HS Prannoy advanced to the final of the Malaysia Masters 2023 after his opponent Christian Adinata of Indonesia retired due to an unfortunate injury.

Prannoy led the first set, but Christian Adinata suffered an injury in the middle of the game, forcing Indian Shuttler into the tournament final for the first time in his career. Prannoy had not reached a tournament final since the Swiss Open 2022; he will play the final after nearly a year of waiting.

The game had begun in an extremely one-sided manner, with Prannoy taking an 11-1 lead after only five minutes. The Indian world number nine had advanced to the semi-finals after impressive wins over Chou Tien Chou, Li Shi Feng, and Kenta Nishimoto in the previous rounds. All the matches had gone the distance, lasting more than an hour.

 He was clearly the most in-form player at the tournament, as evidenced by his blistering start, in which he peppered Adinata with body smashes and trademark angled cross-courts that left him stranded.

On Friday, star Indian shuttler HS Prannoy defeated Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in the men’s singles quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals of the Malaysia Masters 2023 in Kuala Lumpur. Prannoy displayed remarkable tenacity, mounting an incredible comeback to win the match by scores of 25-23,18-21,21-13 in a 91-minute marathon.

On Sunday, Prannoy will face the winner of the semi-final match between Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei and Weng Hong Yang of the People’s Republic of China.
