The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided a significant update on Rishabh Pant’s recovery from injury, announcing his fitness to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The wicketkeeper-batsman had missed IPL 2023 due to injuries sustained in a car accident on December 30, 2022. BCCI, through their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stated that Pant has successfully completed a 14-month rehabilitation process and is now cleared to play in IPL 2024.
“After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, @RishabhPant17 has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming #TATA@IPL 2024,” announced BCCI.

Pant, a key player for Delhi Capitals (DC) since 2016, has amassed 2,838 runs in 98 matches with an average of 34.61 and a strike rate exceeding 147. His contributions include a century and 15 half-centuries.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to commence on March 22, featuring a match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MA Chidambaram Stadium. While the schedule until April 7 has been disclosed, subsequent fixtures will be revealed later due to the impending Lok Sabha polls, the dates of which are yet to be announced.
Delhi Capitals will play their home matches in Vizag on March 31 and April 3 against CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will be unavailable for hosting matches shortly after the Women’s Premier League final on March 17.
DC’s other fixtures until April 7 include a match against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28 and a clash with the Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on April 7.
