Wrestlemania 40: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Wins His First WWE Match In 8 Years After Teaming Up With Roman Reigns

In his first WWE match in eight years, The Rock emerged victorious. The Rock returned to the WWE ring for the first time since 2016 at WrestleMania 40 on Saturday night, April 6. He teamed up with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, with the stipulations for Sunday night’s championship match at stake.

Speaking of the Wrestlemania match, “The Final Boss” made a grand entrance with his iconic brahma bull logo illuminated in flames. He walked through the fire, holding up “The People’s Champ,” a title bestowed upon him by Lonnie, the wife of Muhammad Ali, during the Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday night. Following their epic entrances, all the competitors squared off in the ring before Reigns and Rollins initiated the match. The crowd was buzzing with anticipation. Reigns and Rollins, former SHIELD members, grappled before Rhodes joined in, giving a preview of Sunday’s main event. The Rock then entered the fray, locking up with Rollins.

The showdown intensified when Rhodes faced off against The Rock. Chaos ensued as Reigns battled Rhodes on the ramp, while The Rock and Rollins clashed near the announcer’s table. Although The Rock and Rollins returned to the ring, Reigns had already inflicted significant damage on Rhodes. Reigns targeted Rollins with a spear, but Rollins countered it. Despite Rollins’ efforts, he couldn’t tag in Rhodes as The Rock continued his assault. Rhodes managed to intervene, slapping The Rock, allowing Rollins to deliver a curb stomp. Reigns then seized the opportunity, executing a Superman punch on Rhodes and nearly securing the pin.

The match was exhilarating and met the high expectations. The Rock displayed his prowess as if he had never left the ring. The upcoming clash between Rhodes and Reigns on Sunday night will now follow Bloodline rules. The culmination of Rhodes’ desired storyline might not materialize as expected.
