Amid escalating water scarcity in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, numerous technology professionals are opting to temporarily depart the city, with some relocating to their hometowns.
Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, countered these concerns, asserting that there is no water shortage in Bengaluru and accusing the BJP of politicizing the issue. The severity of the water crisis has prompted many employees of multinational corporations in the tech sector to seek respite in Mysuru.

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar stated that approximately 7,000 borewells out of the total 16,000 have ceased functioning. He mentioned that efforts are being made to ensure water provision to the public, with BWSSB, BBMP, and nodal officers overseeing these efforts.
Additionally, he mentioned plans for establishing a board to differentiate between legal water provider tankers and illegal ones charging excessive fees. It was noted that free water is being supplied to slum areas.
DK Shivakumar expressed his belief that the BJP is politicizing the issue, but he emphasized that their administration is not influenced by such tactics.
He asserted that no water has been released to Tamil Nadu, and he attributed such claims to political maneuvers by the BJP.
