The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in the Guwahati Magistrate Court against seven persons accused of stealing arms and ammunition from the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) during the Manipur crisis.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case on August 24, 2023, after receiving an FIR at Moirang police station in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. This change of investigation was made following notification issued by the Government of Manipur and the Government of India under the DSPE Act, 1946. Kote Headquarters at Naranseina 2-IRB, Manipur.
The names in the charge sheet are: Laishram Prem Singh, Khumukcham Dhiren alias Thapkpa, Moirangthem Anand Singh, Athokpam Kajit alias Kishorjit, Loukrakpam Michael Mangang alias Michael, Konthoujam Romojit Meitei alias Romojit Johnson are the accused.
The CBI said the search for other accused involved in the theft of arms and ammunition and other aspects of the case is on.
