DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav: Punjab Police Fully Prepared Ahead of General Elections 2024

After the Election Commission of India announced the full schedule with poll dates for the General Elections 2024. Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav stated that Punjab Police is fully prepared to make sure there is free, fair and peaceful elections in the state. The Polling date for the General elections in Punjab will start from June 1 in the last phase of the election Polls.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav alongside Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla did the virtual briefing with all senior Police Officers from Headquarters to assess all the security arrangements in Punjab ahead of the General Elections 2024. As per the official statememt from the Information and Public Relations department Punjab, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav also directed all the officers to follow all aspects of Model Code of Conduct and all the instructions and guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India. Model Code of Conduct came into force after the Poll dates were declared.

Special DGP Arpit Shukla added that the security has been tightened across the state and security check-up has been beefed up at the interstate borders to keep any eye on the movement of criminals, drug smugglers. Around 25 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed in various sensitive districts of Punjab to create an atmosphere and environment of confidence.

As per the information in the statement, there are five companies of the Central Reserve Police Forces, 15 of the Border Security Force and five of Indo-Tibetan Border Police
