Lok Sabha 2024 : Manifesto Unveiled By BJP For Sikkim Assembly Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda unveiled the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly Election in Gangtok on Thursday. Titled “Modi Ki Guarantee–Viksit Bharat Viksit Sikkim,” the manifesto outlines the party’s vision and promises for the state.

In a spirited address, Nadda took aim at the Congress and other previous governments, criticizing their approach of isolation and neglect. He highlighted PM Modi’s mantra of “Look East, Act East, Act Fast, and Act First,” contrasting it with what he described as the previous government’s vote-bank politics.

“We are committed to working with the Central Government to establish a world-class Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Sikkim. Additionally, we plan to set up the National Institute of Design to nurture youth development and vocational training. Similarly, to empower the youth and boost tourism, we pledge to establish the Institute of Hotel Management,” Nadda assured the voters in Sikkim.

Nadda also emphasized India’s economic progress under PM Modi’s leadership, particularly amidst global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis. He highlighted India’s rise from the 11th largest economy to the fifth largest, expressing confidence that under PM Modi’s continued leadership, India’s economy will soon rank third globally.

“In the past decade of the Narendra Modi government, India has made significant strides in various sectors. We have become the second-largest steel manufacturer, surpassing Japan to reach the third spot in the automobile market, with only America and China ahead of us. The ‘Made in India’ tag on mobile phones is a testament to our growth in the mobile industry,” Nadda remarked.

The Sikkim Assembly elections are scheduled to coincide with the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. Sikkim, with 32 assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency, holds significant political importance in the region.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) secured the lone Lok Sabha seat from the state. In the Assembly elections, the SKM won 17 out of 32 seats, while the Sikkim Democratic Front secured 15 seats.

As the election season unfolds, political parties are intensifying their campaigns, making promises and outlining their plans for the future of Sikkim. The release of the BJP’s manifesto marks a crucial step in this electoral process, setting the stage for a closely watched contest in the state.
