Man Found Dead After Rescued Falling In The 40 ft Borewell

According to Delhi Minister Atishi, a man who fell into a 40-foot deep borewell within the Delhi Jal Board plant near Keshopur Mandi passed away on Sunday. The AAP leader posted on X, informing that the rescue team discovered the man’s body.

“At initial assessment, the deceased appears to be a male around 30 years old. The police will investigate how he gained access to the borewell room and subsequently fell into the borewell,” she stated in the post. Atishi also expressed gratitude to the National Disaster Response Force for their rescue efforts.

Delhi Police reported that the man’s body was retrieved from the borewell around 3 pm, and efforts are ongoing to identify him.

At 1:15 am on Sunday, Jal Board employees notified the police that someone had entered their office premises for theft and fallen into the borewell.

Five fire tenders, along with teams from the NDRF and Delhi Police, promptly responded to the scene. Following the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the sealing of all abandoned borewells in the city within 48 hours.

Kejriwal stated on X, “Delhi Jal Board has been instructed to conduct an investigation. Stringent action will be taken against the responsible officer.”

“Rescue operations are underway in the Keshopur area by NDRF and Delhi Jal Board. Water Minister Atishi assessed the situation. It was discovered that the borewell was located within a locked room. Delhi Police is currently investigating the incident,” he added.
