On Tuesday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reaffirmed the commitment of the Congress government to implement the six guarantees, despite facing financial constraints. Addressing the audience after the official introduction of the Rs.500 LPG cylinder and 200 unit free power supply Gurha Jyothi schemes at the Secretariat, he explained that due to the model code of conduct for the Mahabubnagar Local Authorities MLC elections, the venue for the launch of these schemes was moved from Chevella to the Secretariat.
“We are maintaining financial discipline and remain dedicated to fulfilling all six guarantees,” he stated, while also accusing the previous government of neglecting to reduce LPG cylinder prices, purportedly to boost state revenues.
Criticizing opposition parties, he asserted that despite their efforts to tarnish the government’s image with false allegations, the public remains unconvinced. He highlighted the UPA government’s initiative to provide LPG cylinders at Rs.400 for low and middle-income groups, contrasting it with the BJP-led Centre’s price increase to Rs.1200.
Revanth Reddy praised Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi for her unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the government’s focus on streamlining expenditure while prioritizing welfare and development programs. He assured that all consumers using less than 200 units of power would receive a zero bill in March without any restrictions on scheme implementation.
Regarding scheme enrollment, Bhatti Vikramarka stated that individuals who missed the Praja Palana program could visit local Mandal offices to submit their applications.
Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy hailed the day as historic and pledged to extend benefits under the six guarantees to all white ration cardholder families. He confirmed that regardless of the LPG cylinder’s market price, it would be provided for Rs.500, benefiting over 40 lakh families.
