Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed strong confidence in the BJP’s prospects for victory in the upcoming state elections, citing the substantial turnout during the nomination filing process for BJP candidates as evidence. Speaking at a gathering in Garji, Gomati District, where female participation was notable, Saha highlighted the momentum behind the BJP’s campaign.
“We are steadfast in our commitment to realize PM Modi’s vision of securing over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha. Biplab Kumar Deb will contest from the West Parliamentary Constituency, and Kriti Singh Debbarma will contest from the East seat. The overwhelming support witnessed during the nomination filings in both constituencies is indicative of the outcome on June 4. We are confident of clinching victory in both seats,” asserted Saha.
The Chief Minister underscored the significance of women’s empowerment for the nation’s progress. “To bolster and empower women, we have implemented a 33 per cent job reservation and allocated 55 per cent of stalls for women. Additionally, we have initiated further measures to empower women,” he stated.
Saha criticized the alliance between the CPI (M) and Congress, condemning the unrest that prevailed during their tenure. He contrasted this with the peaceful conduct of the 2023 Assembly election under the BJP’s governance. “The opposition consistently lamented about the state of law and order, yet their regime was marred by electoral violence and terror. In stark contrast, the 2023 Assembly election transpired peacefully without any incidents of violence.
We are committed to strengthening our bond with the public by reaching out to every household, garnering support, and urging people to bless PM Modi. To fortify the nation, we need Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, who tirelessly works for the welfare of the people. We uphold the sanctity of the constitution. Over the past 35 years, many lives were lost and violence plagued the state. During elections, opposition members were compelled to flee the state out of fear. It is regrettable that the Congress has forged an alliance with CPIM to form the INDI alliance, leaving me as the sole dissenter,” he lamented.
Interacting with senior citizens and distinguished figures of Kakraban Mondal on the same day, the CM further solidified his engagement with the community.
The elections in Tripura are scheduled to be held in two phases. The West Tripura seat will go to the polls on April 19, while the East Tripura seat will see voting on April 26. Vote counting is slated for June 4.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured both seats in the state, marking a significant milestone as the party had previously held no seats. Pratima Bhowmik and Rebati Tripura emerged victorious from the West Tripura and East Tripura constituencies, respectively.
Conversely, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Tripura, the BJP failed to clinch any seats, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) sweeping to victory and securing both seats in the state.
