Vaibhav Gehlot Steps Down as President of Rajasthan Cricket Association

Vaibhav Gehlot on Monday announced his resignation as the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and termed the government’s decision against him as “cruel”.

Gehlot released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) confirming his resignation. He is said to have been the president of RCA in 2019, highlighting the organization’s poor state under the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government until CP Joshi took over as chairman that year. The Prime Minister focused on the development of cricket in Rajasthan.

“I took office as the President of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) in 2019. As we all know, what was the status of RCA during the tenure of the previous BJP government? Shri CP Joshi took the lead. When he became the President of the RCA in 2017, Rajasthan cricket faced difficulties and the BCCI even imposed a ban on the RCA, resulting in the Rajasthan cricket team not being able to host matches or participate in competitions. After Shri CP Joshi, I took up this position with the aim of promoting cricket in Rajasthan and involving the youth in the game. “Gehlot said.

“For a long time, no international cricket and IPL cricket matches were held in Rajasthan. from rajasthan I was initiated at the BCCI level and received approval to host the event during Ramadan. Pur organizes international matches and IPL. In order to give more opportunities to the talents of Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) was established and organized in Jaipur and Jodh Pur for the successful conduct of the tournament. Bakatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur, Jaipur City was renovated in collaboration with the government of Rajasthan. “The boards are being used for international competitions. Construction of a football stadium has also started in Udaipur and there are plans to explore stadiums in other cities,” he added.

Vabhav Gehlot, son of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot RCA currently owns He pointed out that it does not have a stadium of its own. He explained that earlier international football matches were held at the SMS stadium under an agreement with the Rajasthan government. To solve this problem, it started building a new stadium on the Jaipur-Delhi highway in collaboration with Vedanta Group. The stadium, which will be the third largest stadium in the world, received Rs 300 billion from Vedanta, of which Rs 60 billion was spent on its construction.

Gehlot emphasized the main aim of promoting cricket in Rajasthan and said he was unlikely to be re-elected as president. However, he accused the NPP government led by Bhajan Lal Sharma of harassing him. He stated that the sudden closure of RCA offices and efforts to sow distrust in the organization led to his decision to resign.

“My commitment to promoting football and elevating the position of the RCA throughout my tenure has resulted in my unqualified election as President of the RCA. However, with the change of government in Rajasthan, the campaign against RCA started to take a negative turn. The sudden closure of the RCA office and the attempt to spread suspicion against me in the Rajasthan Cricket Association has caused concern. This has a positive impact on the environment in the state. I can’t stand the thought of an IPL match being held in a state that is facing crisis and poverty cricket. Therefore, I have voluntarily resigned as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association to preserve cricket and baseball in the state,” Gehlot said.

He is also said to have said that no trust suit has been filed against him. None of the RCA executives or members have discussed the issue or shared the same opinion with him even if he disagrees. Gehlot reiterated his commitment to the future of Rajasthan cricket and promised to increase the interest of cricketers and fans.

“I was warned about the lack of trust in me. I resigned earlier “The future of cricket and the state’s players is my top priority and I will ensure there is no interference. “I will continue to be there for the development of cricket, its players and fans in Rajasthan,” he concluded.
