Users worldwide have reported issues with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which seems to be experiencing an unexpected outage. This outage affects users trying to access the platform both through web and mobile applications. OpenAI has acknowledged the issue and is working on it as fast as possible.
This is happening at a time when ChatGPT has been getting quite massive attention, and people have come to rely on it for doing various things-from answering questions to creating original pieces of writing. OpenAI has promised users that it is doing everything in its power to restore service and is sorry for the inconvenience this outage has caused.
At 2PM ET, OpenAI posted an update on its status page, indicating that ChatGPT, the API, and its text-to-video generator Sora were “currently experiencing high error rates.” This announcement was followed by another update at 2:18PM ET, which attributed the issue to an “upstream provider” and confirmed that OpenAI was actively monitoring the situation.
By 3:06PM ET, OpenAI had issued another update, saying that they were “continuing to work on a fix,” but no ETA was provided for when access would be fully restored.
This is not the first time ChatGPT faced downtime in recent months. Just weeks after OpenAI launched Sora for ChatGPT subscribers earlier this month, both the video generation tool and ChatGPT experienced several hours of downtime. Also, the significant outage in June caused various AI tools, which include ChatGPT.
