Telegram has launched a significant update introducing a revamped in-app browser with multi-tab functionality, a Mini App Store, and a new category of mini apps. The update also includes the ability to gift Stars to friends and a range of other enhancements. Here’s a breakdown of the new features:
The updated in-app browser now supports multi-tab browsing, allowing users to seamlessly switch between messages, websites, articles, and mini apps. It also accommodates decentralized websites hosted on the TON blockchain, making Web3 content accessible to Telegram’s nearly one billion monthly users. Users can collapse and reopen pages from a bottom bar, bookmark their favorite sites, and resume browsing from where they left off after checking notifications.
With over 500 million out of its 950 million users engaging with mini apps each month, Telegram has added a new ‘Apps’ tab in Search. This tab showcases frequently used and popular mini apps, and developers can now upload video demos and screenshots to provide previews.

Mini apps can now create content for Telegram Stories, such as AI-generated videos or snapshots of leaderboards. This feature enables users to share their app achievements and helps promote mini apps among their contacts.
Users now have the option to purchase and gift Telegram Stars to their friends. These Stars can be redeemed for digital goods in mini apps or paid content in channels. Birthday celebrants will be prominently highlighted, and gifted Stars will appear as animated gift boxes in chats.
An animated weather widget can now be added to stories, automatically adjusting between Celsius and Fahrenheit based on the viewer’s device settings. The widget also displays the moon phase on clear nights. Users can further customize their stories with music, links, or location from the ‘Stickers’ section.
The update introduces a front flash feature for video messages, improving visibility in low-light conditions. To use this feature, users press and hold the camera icon to start recording, swipe up to continue, and tap the flash icon to activate it.
The updated Telegram browser for macOS now supports tabs for games, mini apps, instant view pages, and Web3 sites.
Users can now select a cover photo frame for their video stories when posting them to their profile.
The new update is available for Android (via Google Play or Telegram’s website) and iOS (App Store), with Android users requiring version 10.15.0 or later.
