2 workers killed in grenade attack in Shopian

Two days after a Kashmiri Pandit was was murdered by militants in the same district, two non-local labourers were slain when terrorists threw grenades at them in the early hours of Tuesday in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir’s Herman hamlet.

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the J&K Police conducted raids in the Pulwama area of South Kashmir on Tuesday morning in relation to civilian deaths and terror financing in the aftermath of recent strikes.

Both Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar, citizens of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, were killed in the most recent terrorist incident.

Following the event, the entire region was blocked off, and a massive manhunt was started, which resulted in the capture of Harmein, a hybrid terrorist from the same hamlet.

Imran Bashir Ganie of Herman, Shopian, a hybrid terrorist of the outlawed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was detained, the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted. They further stated that other searches and investigations are ongoing.

“Hybrid terrorists” are unlisted radicalised individuals who carry out terrorist attacks and frequently do so without leaving any evidence.

According to authorities, terrorists shot and killed a Kashmiri Pandit on Saturday in the Shopian district. Deputy Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar said the Kashmir Freedom Fighter (KFF) group, a militant outfit’s front organisation, had claimed responsibility for the killing.

After being attacked close to his home in the South Kashmir district, Puran Krishan Bhat was taken to the hospital, where staff members pronounced him dead.

Numerous protesting Kashmiri Pandit employees who are seeking to leave the valley blocked the Jammu-Akhnoor road on Saturday in response to the targeted killing, which also sparked protests from political parties and social organisations against the BJP-led government for “failing to ensure a safe and secure atmosphere in the valley.”

According to a police officer, the searches on Tuesday were carried out in the Pulwama villages of Jandwal, Armulla, Niloora, and Bandzoo in connection with the seizure of a 30 kg IED in August. SIU is the district-level investigating department of the police.

According to the officer who was previously mentioned, just a few persons have already been detained in connection with this issue.

Police and security personnel in Pulwama discovered an IED in August that weighed around 25 to 30 kg at the Tahab crossing on the Circular Road.
