The mastermind of Mumbai Taj attack, intelligence chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) passed away due to heart attack in Pakistan’s Faisalabad. His death has however sparked speculation in country’s jihadi circles over the unknown deaths of several LeT members recently.
Pakistan has accused Indian agencies of being behind these killings, an assertion that India has denied.
New Delhi clarified that it does not possess any such ‘killing list’, but if such a list did exist, Cheema would likely be ranked at the top alongside JUD chief Hafiz Saeed and JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
Described as an elusive LeT operative, Cheema was characterized as a Punjabi-speaking individual with a beard and a robust physique. In the early 2000s, he lived in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, alongside his wife and two children.

-Azam Cheema orchestrated the 2006 train bombings in Mumbai, which resulted in the deaths of 188 individuals and left over 800 people injured.
– He was sought by the US government for purportedly providing training and serving as the principal conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. The attack resulted in the deaths of 166 individuals, including six Americans.
