Terror Module Dismantled in Uri: 3 LeT Terrorists Arrested, Arms and Ammunition Seized

A successful operation conducted jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army has led to the dismantling of a terrorist module in Uri, Baramulla district of the union territory. Three individuals were apprehended during the operation, with a cache of arms and ammunition seized from their possession. Authorities have registered a case under the UA(P) Act and Arms Act in response.

Law enforcement officials stated, “A terrorist module has been neutralized in Uri Baramulla, resulting in the arrest of 3 associates affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group. Significant arms and ammunition were confiscated from them, prompting the registration of a case under the UA(P) Act and Arms Act.”

According to sources familiar with the matter, a combined team of Baramulla Police and the Army’s 16 Sikh Light Infantry conducted joint patrols and area surveillance at Churunda Uri. During these operations, they identified a suspicious individual roaming in the vicinity. Upon noticing the patrolling party, the individual attempted to flee, but was expertly apprehended.

The apprehended terrorists, identified as Showkat Ali Awan, hailing from Churunda, Uri, was found in possession of two grenades and was promptly taken into custody. Subsequent investigations led to the disclosure of two accomplices, Ahmad Din and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana, both residents of Churunda. Upon their interrogation, law enforcement officers retrieved two grenades, a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, and four live rounds from their possession.

As per official accounts, the arrested individuals have been implicated in smuggling arms and ammunition across the border under the directives of Pakistan-based terror handlers. Their activities reportedly involve the distribution of weapons to LeT terrorists for the execution of acts of terror.

The case is being actively pursued under the Indian Arms Act and UA(P) Act by the Uri Police Station. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the full extent of the plot and any potential affiliations.
