A motorcycle bomb exploded in Assayida Zainab town in the Damascus countryside on Thursday night, killing at least six people and injuring 23 others.
The explosion took place near a taxi at Kou Sudan Street. The police and other authorities rushed to the scene and the injured were taken to hospitals. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
The explosion is the latest in a series of attacks that have targeted civilians in Syria. In recent months, there has been a sharp increase in violence in the country, as the government of President Bashar al-Assad and its allies have pressed their offensive against rebel forces.
The violence has displaced millions of people and caused a humanitarian crisis. The United Nations estimates that more than 11 million people in Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance.
The international community has condemned the violence in Syria and called for a political solution to the conflict. However, the government of President Assad has shown no signs of backing down, and the conflict shows no signs of ending anytime soon.
