A police inspector from the Kakatiya University police station in Telangana’s Hanumakonda district was arrested for reportedly s*xually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. According to reports, charges were filed against him under the provisions of the rape and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Acts.
The arrest of the police inspector took place on March 22, Friday. Authorities have revealed that the accused was previously stationed as an inspector in Bhupalpally Cybercrime. As per the police reports, the incident of misconduct towards the teenage girl reportedly occurred on March 21.
In an official statement, the police said, “The accused has been booked under the rape section of the POCSO Act and has been remanded.” Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
