Renowned actor Dinesh Phadnis, widely recognized for his role as Fredericks in the iconic Sony TV show CID, breathed his last on Tuesday midnight, succumbing to complications arising from liver issues. The saddening news was confirmed by his co-star Dayanand Shetty.
Dinesh Phadnis was undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital, where he ultimately passed away at 12:08 am. The actor’s last rites are scheduled to take place at the Daulat Nagar Crematorium in Borivali East.
Earlier reports last week had initially suggested that Dinesh Phadnis suffered a heart attack. However, Dayanand Shetty clarified the rumors, revealing that the actor was battling liver damage, not a cardiac ailment. Shetty, known for his portrayal of Daya in CID, emphasized, “Firstly, it wasn’t a heart attack; it was liver damage, because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad.”
In an earlier statement, Shetty dispelled the misconceptions surrounding Phadnis’s health, stating, “For the last two days, he has been very critical. Today morning (Sunday) also I’ve learned that there’s no major improvement. We’re hoping he gets better soon.”
Providing insights into the circumstances leading to Phadnis’s deteriorating health, Shetty explained, “Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment, but the medication affected his liver adversely. That’s why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicines.”
