Adani Green Energy Hits Milestone: 1 GW Solar Capacity Live at Khavda Renewable Park

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a leading renewable energy company in India, has marked a significant achievement by operationalizing 1,000 MW of solar energy at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. This milestone represents the fastest greenfield solar capacity addition in India’s renewable sector.

The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, touted as the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a planned capacity of 30 GW, spans an impressive 538 square kilometers of barren land in Gujarat, approximately five times the size of Paris. AGEL’s ambitious plan aligns with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

AGEL’s swift progress at Khavda underscores its commitment to India’s renewable energy targets. Despite the scale of the project, the company managed to deliver 1,000 MW in less than 12 months, a testament to its project execution capabilities.

The deployment of approximately 2.4 million solar modules highlights AGEL’s dedication to harnessing solar energy to power millions of homes across India. The energy generated from this capacity is estimated to power over 16 million homes annually, which is nearly equivalent to the number of homes in entire countries like Poland, Canada, Belgium, Chile, and Switzerland.

Moreover, AGEL is not only focusing on capacity expansion but also integrating innovative solutions for sustainability. The entire Khavda plant will be covered with waterless robotic module cleaning systems, a move aimed at increasing energy output and conserving water in the arid Kutch region. This initiative aligns with AGEL’s commitment to water neutrality and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.

The Khavda Renewable Energy Park is expected to create over 15,200 green jobs during its construction phase, further contributing to the region’s socio-economic development.

AGEL’s success at Khavda mirrors its achievements in building and operating India’s first and the world’s largest wind-solar hybrid cluster at Jaisalmer. Leveraging its technological expertise, operational excellence, and robust supply chain, AGEL continues to drive India’s clean energy transition and enhance social and natural capital in the region.

The operationalization of 1 GW of solar capacity at Khavda represents a significant milestone for AGEL and reinforces its unwavering resolve to accelerate India’s clean energy transition.
